Verpan – short for Verner Panton – is a design company that works closely with the late Danish architect and designer’s estate to preserve, reissue, and recontextualise his groundbreaking body of work. In the 1960s, Panton became known for his use of bright colours and new materials, placing him at the forefront of Pop Design. At Verpan, the brand seeks to sustain his playful spirit while considering today’s contemporary context. Here are five of Panton’s pieces that exemplify his dauntless approach, now available at Grafunkt.

Designed in 1980, the Pantop Portable has become a classic in Verpan’s collection. The bell-like shade of this portable lamp is elegant and distinctive, making it a great companion for shaping a room’s atmosphere. Now updated by Verpan in an array of eye-catching contemporary hues, there’s a colour for everyone. The design is available as a table lamp or pendant too.
2. Fun Pendant

Many regard the Fun collection as one of Panton’s greatest lighting masterpieces, and rightly so. Created in 1964, this unique chandelier is composed of luminous mother-of-pearl discs. It’s a striking pendant that adds a splash of splendour while providing a soft and warm glow. With its endless variations, the design solidified Panton’s ability to expand his oeuvre from a single concept.
3. Barboy Side Table
Originally conceived as a drinks cabinet in 1963 – with bottles at the bottom, glasses in the middle and accessories on top – this playful mobile storage offers incredible versatility. The three round-shaped drawers are practical, expressive and unmistakably Panton. A chrome handle and castors levels up its functionality. The Barboy is made of high-quality lacquered moulded wood and available in multiple colours.
4. Wire Table Lamp
This 1972 reissue has a chrome-plated steel frame that stemmed from Panton’s exploration of steel wire as both material and technique. Taking on an unorthodox lightbulb silhouette, the lamp bestows a lightness through the wire framework. Verpan now offers the lamp in different colours and sizes, adding a contemporary touch to its timeless look.
Whether it resembles a soap bubble or a UFO, the VP Globe is sure to mesmerise. Five internal reflectors are suspended mid-air by three steel chains, forming a futuristic, sculptural piece. Conceived in 1969, the lamp stirs intrigue without revealing its light source, crafting a diffused glow that shapes the room. It comes in a range of sizes and interior finishes.
