The Splinter series was designed by Sato Oki of prolific Japanese studio Nendo, who drew inspiration from the splintering of wood when creating the silhouettes. His vision is exemplified in how the legs and the arms of the armchair appear to be peeling off at the joints. The armchair was awarded Japan's Good Design Award in 2014. Description
A collection of furniture developed by Sato Oki of Japanese studio Nendo that mimics the peeling of wood from its main stem. It features a combination of thick and thin pieces to showcase the strength and delicacy of wood at the same time. The bends are made along the wood grain to retain the material's original pliancy.
