PH 3-2½ Wall is a member of the three-shade family, Poul Henningsen did not just design a light, but an entire system – around a thousand different models have been produced over the years. This wide selection consisted of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a number of different chandeliers. Poul Henningsen was the first person to pursue a scientific approach to light and use the logarithmic spiral as a basis. The even light distribution, together with the diffuse reflection through the shades, made it possible to control glare and shadow.
This model was presented in 2005, based on Poul Henningsen’s celebrated three-shade system, which he created in 1925 to shape excellent non-glare lighting. The black painted steel fitting with its matt white tinted inner shades emits a downward directed glare-free soft and pleasant light. It is one of three PH outdoor lights available.
Henningsen had a distinct scientific approach to light and continued to design numerous luminaires based on the same system. He used the logarithmic spiral as the foundation and accomplished even distribution of light with the multi-shade-system, which made it possible to curb glare and shadow. Each PH lamp number refers to the size of its shades. The PH 3-2½ Wall consists of a top shade of approximately 30 cm with lower shades from the 2½ version.
